Page 2 About the Designer
Louise has been sewing since she was a child. Her mother, grandmother and aunts are all masters of crochet, knitting, quilting, smocking and needlepoint.
Louise majored in Apparel Merchandising at Indiana University with an additional degree in Costume Construction Technology and a minor in Marketing. She trained under German Master Tailor, Karla Kunoff and interned with designer Vivian Gray of Atlanta.
Louise followed a path of creativity and design and built a successful career as a product designer of interior decor accessories at the wholesale level. Newly married and freshly relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, the evolution of TruLu Couture began. It is the culmination of inspirations from her world travels (India, China, Viet Nam, The Philippines, Thailand, France and Germany), design and culture. As with all things Louise does, this too will evolve. Come along for the ride, won't you?
Blog
Check out where it all started! Who knew that when Louise began her blog in April of 2009, that it would grow to reach thousands of readers in 150 countries! Newly engaged at 38 without a clue about how to plan a wedding, Louise began writing her frustrations down as a personal outlet. Who knew people would actually read it....and keep reading!
The Thirty-Something Bride is a no-nonsense, slightly snarky approach to wedding planning, the wedding industry and life in general. You need not be thirty-something nor a bride to enjoy reading!
Along the blogging way, Louise has met and has become an active member in both the wedding and blogging community. With their support, as well as from her (very understanding) husband, family and friends, there could not be a Thirty-Something Bride blog nor TruLu Couture. To these people and groups, Louise sends her undying gratitude.
